The Metalna power team designed, financed and implemented the first grid-connected solar power plant in Slovenia, at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering in Maribor.

They represent the basic method of installing photovoltaic modules. The nominal power of such power plants has a wide range, from several hundred Watts to several megawatts. In most cases, this type of solar power plant is the choice of private investors and companies with large and healthy roof surfaces. It is desirable that the orientation of the roof wings on which such solar power plants are installed is towards the south, or at least that the roofs are flat.

Solar power plants that form the roof of parking lots represent one of the biggest trends at this time, which is linked to the extraordinary growth in the number of electric cars and their need for charging. It can be assumed that the areas dedicated to solar power plants will be one of the bottlenecks in the development of infrastructure for electric car charging systems. The advantage of this technological solution is also in efficiency, as electric cars can be charged directly from inverters that can be installed at the power plant itself.
Solar power plants – parking lots can be equipped with standard modules, BIPV solar modules, as implemented in the first Slovenian solar power plant, or with transparent BIPB modules, which is one of the current trends in the world.
Rooftop areas are usually too small to install a few MWp solar power plants, so the only way for high power solar power plants is to install them on the ground. With the aim of minimizing the permanent degradation of the land, the foundations are made instead of concrete blocks with supporting massive screws, which are removed after their useful life, together with the solar power plant, and the land is returned to its original shape.
Land with good insolation and a geometry favorable for the angle of incidence of the sun’s rays are usually used for solar power plants on the ground. In 2022, Metalna Power’s partner Intebako Skopje installed several MW of solar power plants on land.
They usually represent BIPV (building integrated photovoltaic) components. There are two reasons for their choice:

An electricity store is a battery that stores electrical energy, which
your solar power plant produced it during the day and puts it on
available e.g. in the evening when your solar power plant does not produce.
To ensure the greatest possible safety and self-sufficiency in the event of a network failure, we offer you the supply and installation of diesel electric generators, the advantage of which comes to the fore especially in the winter months, when the solar power plant cannot produce all your energy and the storage tank cannot store it.
Diesel electric generators (DEG) are dimensioned to cover all the needs of a private house and are supplied in capacities of 6 kW, 8 kW and 10 kW. DEGs have their own tank and autonomy of up to 4,000 hours of operation at full load. They can be installed outdoors or indoors. Installed DEGs have an additional silencer, which makes them almost inaudible.
DEGs are based on proven Perkins diesel engines and are integrated into your Comprehensive Energy System (CES) via a hybrid inverter.
They represent the optimization of photovoltaic power plants and are the
basis of CES – comprehensive energy system.
In principle, hybrid electric systems are independent of the grid to which they are connected and are often used in remote locations. The purpose of installing a hybrid electrical system is to produce electricity from RES (renewable energy sources) in quantities that cover the entire consumption. In addition to energy sources, CES includes DC (charging stations) and AC electricity supply systems, electricity storage systems, inverters, filters, and control and management systems. All the mentioned components are connected to the CES system in different, boutique-conceived ways.
The electrical power provided by the CES system can vary from a few watts for a home application to several megawatts for industrial consumers or residential neighborhoods.
CES includes hybrid systems, which are characterized by the fact that they include various production sources of electricity, mainly from RES, a whole range of nominal powers, electricity storage facilities and, last but not least, different types of energy; in addition to electricity, also thermal.
